Feast Days of the Monastery

   
   

The Monastery of Chrysopigi is dedicated to the Mother of God of the Life-Giving Spring and celebrates its feast day on Easter Friday. The wonderworking icon of the Mother of God is one of the most prominent pilgrimage destinations in Crete.

The Monastery also celebrates on the 6th of August, the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

* 31st August, the Placing of the Cincture (Sash) of the Mother of God
* 1st October, the Feast of the Mother of God “Quick to Hear” (Panagia Gorgoepikoos)
* 17th October, Synaxis of the Holy Unmercenaries
* 2nd December, the Feast of Saint Porphyrios of Kavsokalyvia

The feast days of the Monastery’s chapels:
* 15th January, the Feast of Saint John the Hut-Dweller (whose left arm is kept at the Monastery)
* 10th February, the Feast of Saint Haralambos
* 26th September and 8th May, the Feast of Saint John the Theologian
* 10th November, the Feast of Saint Arsenios the Cappadocian
* 25th November, the Feast of Saint Catherine

The feast days of the cave chapels in the area of St Kyriaki:
* 17th January, the Feast of Saint Anthony
* 23rd June, the Feast of Saint Kallinikos and the New Martyrs of Crete
* 4th August, the Feast of the Holy Seven Youths (the “Seven Sleepers”) of Ephesus
