This work, employing the cosmology of Saint Maximus the Confessor, attempts to illuminate aspects of the Aeschylean tragedy which express the undying anguish of man to discern his place in the world. The convergences and the divergences between the theology of Saint Maximus and the poetic thought of Aeschylus are examined with reference to fundamental issues, such as the origin of the world, the pursuit of personal freedom, salvation in Christ, etc. The complex and problematic question of contemporary man’s relation to the world and to God is also addressed.

WE SHALL BE COMFORTED
This book is the story of Chrysostom Selahvarzi, a former Muslim from Persia who is now an Orthodox Christian. His testimony is of particular value and relevance to us, the Orthodox, because it can not only inspire us to appreciate the immeasurable value of our faith and tradition, but also help us to draw hope and authentic meaning of life from it — hope and meaning for us ourselves and for the foreigners who come as refugees to Greece. The story of Chrysostom is a reminder that there is a work of great spiritual responsibility at hand, right here in our own country, and that we all are called to it, so that some of these suffering, displaced people could, as Chrysostom did, come to know Christ, who is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
